We aspire to be the leading provider of innovative housing across the Northern Rivers, supporting people and partners to access and deliver quality housing for those who need it.

Valued by communities and community organisations for our collaborative work, we manage social and affordable housing development for people in housing need. We support those on very low, low and moderate incomes. These groups include adults and children escaping domestic violence, people with intellectual and physical disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women, young people, people with mental illness and people in recovery.

Community villages

Northern Rivers Housing is managing temporary housing sites throughout the Northern Rivers designed to provide homes to people in our community who were impacted by the February and March 2022 Floods.

Northern Rivers Housing has developed an innovative and person-centered Community Villages Program that aims to support and empower flood survivors through their recovery journey.

Social housing

Northern Rivers Housing provides social housing to support members of the community who have recently experienced homelessness, family violence or have other special needs. This includes people on low and moderate incomes. Social housing is aimed at reducing homelessness and helping people rebuild their lives.

Affordable housing

Northern Rivers Housing assists community members who cannot afford to live in the private rental market close to their place of employment, training or education. Affordable housing allows those in our community who may be low-income earners due to full or part time positions in lower paid jobs, training or education to access accommodation at a reduced cost.

Floods / disaster response accommodation

Recent floods have had a devastating effect on our communities. In late February 2022 the Northern Rivers experienced some of the most severe flooding in modern history. Lismore and the surrounding Region were right in the middle of the disaster with over 1,300 people remaining in emergency accommodation three months later.

NRH’s role in this

As the leading Community Housing Provider in the region, Northern Rivers Housing has been appointed by the NSW Government to manage the first temporary housing villages that are providing homes to flood impacted communities.

The Northern Rivers Housing Villages deliver 7-day a week services onsite that include: village management, allocations, tenancy services, casework and support services, engagement activities, maintenance, cleaning and security to ensure village residents have a safe and healthy living environment while they rebuild their lives.
